Keeping Prices and Stock Data in Sync Across 40,000 SKUs

The problem

A mid-size online retailer's catalog of 40,000+ SKUs regularly drifted out of sync with real stock levels and competitor pricing, causing both lost sales from stockouts and margin erosion from stale prices.

What we built

An always-on agent that reconciles internal inventory data against supplier feeds and monitors a defined set of competitor product pages daily, flagging price and stock discrepancies above a configurable threshold for review — with the option to auto-apply pricing changes within pre-approved bounds.

Keeping it safe

Auto-apply is deliberately narrow — only within bands the merchandising team pre-approved — while anything outside that range routes to a human for a same-day decision, so the agent speeds up the routine 90% of cases without removing oversight from the ones that matter.

The result

The team recovered roughly 4% of margin that had been silently lost to pricing drift, and stockout-driven lost sales dropped meaningfully once inventory reconciliation stopped depending on a weekly manual spreadsheet review.
