Cutting First-Response Time with a Tiered Support Agent
How a mid-size SaaS company deployed an AI agent that resolves routine tickets end-to-end and hands off complex cases with full context.

The problem
A fast-growing SaaS company's support queue was dominated by a small set of repeat questions — password resets, billing lookups, plan-limit clarifications — that ate up the majority of the team's time and delayed the genuinely hard tickets.
What we built
A tiered support agent connected directly to the company's helpdesk, billing system, and product documentation. It resolves the routine tier fully — reading account state, taking safe actions like resending a reset link — and escalates anything ambiguous to a human with a full conversation summary and suggested next step attached, rather than a cold handoff.
The guardrails
Every action the agent can take is explicitly allow-listed (no destructive account changes without confirmation), and a full transcript with the agent's reasoning is logged for every ticket, so support leads could audit accuracy from day one rather than trusting it blindly.
The result
Two-thirds of incoming tickets now close without a human ever touching them, and first-response time dropped from a multi-hour queue average to under 30 seconds around the clock — while the support team's satisfaction scores on the tickets they do handle actually improved, since they're no longer buried under repetitive volume.
